The laboratory of Liver Infectious Diseases (LLID) is focusing on basic and translational research on human pathogens that infect the liver. Different cell culture models and a unique humanized mouse model are being used to study hepatitis viruses such as HBV, HCV, HDV and HEV. Our lab is supported by grants of the Special Research Fund of Ghent University, the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO-Vlaanderen), the Excellence of Science program (EOS-project VirEOS), VLAIO and Open Philanthrop​y.
